Just came across this image, which claims to be for a *new* Niva?

Is it possible, or is my Russian just not very good ?

Nope, thats the original one but in the lengthened version.

You can still buy the original one in this country, imported left habnd drive, from Alan Bird, Lada UK, but the new 'Niva' is this.......

If they did them RHD then my girlfriend said she would have a new one.

She loved the maropn 1.7i I bought, until I lifted it, stuck a snorkel on it and put the bigger tyres on it, now she wont drive it!!

Brand new Nivas are £7500, or £8500 if fitted with a gas conversion. All are LHD and, over here, are only available in the 'old' shape three door version. They all have Bosch sequential injection and power steering, and are a distinct improvement on the earlier versions.
The new, Chevy Niva is considerably more expensive, and is not available over here.
Reliability is excellent, as is parts availability. Indeed, parts at your door the day after ordering is something hardly any UK main dealers can match!
