New Stealth Ta<<<< Recycling Scheme

Apparently in Spain the councils collect all the rubbish then sort it out in local recycling centres.

If I'm going to pay so much tax to keep scroungers and imigrants on the dole then let's have them do something useful and sort out the rubbish.

Maybe if they had to work for the handouts they wouldn't be trying so hard to get into this country.

Around here the household rubbish will just be dumped on the street (with everybody shredding any letters so no address can be found) and the council will have to come and clean it up anyway except it wont be in neat piles so it will take them longer. Dosn't make any sense to me.

I would just like to put a reply in here from someone who is a bin man and can see what the process is.

the council I work for has the moto on the side of all thier vehicles saying, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. that has been mentioned somewhere before.

Our bins are on a fortnightly collection collecting landfill waste one week then compostables the next. However there is a 2nd lorry going around collecting recycling which here is glass, cans, plastic inc plastic bags, clothes, shoes, paper. Cardboard and phone directories obviously go into the compost bins.

We sort the glass, plastic, cans and paper out  at the side of the lorry as we load them.

If you were to see how much waste some people generate and how fast the land fill sites are filling up I think you would all be in a better mind of why the councils are actualy going down the route of paying for waste to be gone.

I will down load a photo of the land fill site taken the 3rd week in August and I will put a line of where the rubbish is now. I think you will be shocked.

The land fill site we go to was predicted to last 5 years and that was a year ago. now it is predicted to last max 1.5 years. 6 years ago when my driver started she said it was estimated to last 20 years. amazing how fast the estimated years are reducing.

Lots of people do need educating about recycling. Alot of the country is good at recycling though.

I have heard rumours that with this charging of rubbish will work like this. But remember this is rumours I have heard so how much truth there is I am unsure.

You will be charged to take black bin waste away (land fill rubbish)
for the recyclable waste you dispose of you will get money for. so if you recycle more than you throw away then you will be quids in. although if you put the wrong stuff in your bin to make the recycle bin heavier then you will be fined.

I am yet find out how much truth is in that scheme!!!!!

Also to end this post, I am lead to believe that my council were the biggest recycling council in the country last year. Fortnightly collections have been around for years here too.

here are the photos.

this was the view. That level was about 1 lory height below ground level. Now it is 1 lory height above ground level.

Where the rubbish is here that is all 1 lorry height above ground level. In the top right corner of the photo you can se a black base. that is chopped up tyres. That level is 2 lorry heights below ground level. that is a new "Cell"* that is now half way up the sides.

A rough idea of size of a cell.

* a Cell is roughly the size of a football pitch. There were 3 cells to this hole. when I started in May the first cell was just reaching ground level. cell 2 and 3 were not even finished to be filled in.

I don't know if this helps anyone understand how fast the land fills are actually filing up but thought some people may like to see anyway.
