I think I fall firmly into the 'old git' catagory  :lol: But I don't remember either! Although I always thought the 504/505 was a great looking car. Wasn't Pinifarina involved in it's design? The 504 Coupe was a particularly smart looking car.

Isnt it then a Ranger?

That ford truck looks very much like the earlier Rangers you see around in abundance in North America.

Or was the P100 the Seirra based one?

No it wasn't it was derived from a cortina in 1982 before they discontinued it and brought out the sierra. Then it became a sierra P100 in 1988.

404 was Farina. Looked a lot like the Austin Cambrige Moris Oxford etc. I had a 404 Estate years ago, only problem was a weak column gear change linkage.
 Anyone remember the Renault Frigate, or even the Dauphine?
 Swapped the Peugeot for a Ford Taunus 26M RS, that was a great car.

I had a 505 GTI Estate for a while - lovely car, very fast, great stereo in it too, but at the time I couldn't really afford to run it and got rid before I had to replace the exhaust  :roll:

Does anyone remember the ARO Ranger?, that later metamorphosised into the Potaro Pampas??

Or the Dacia Duster?

Weren't the Dacias based on the old Renault 12.. My mother had a series of Renaults, all Gordini varients  R8, R10 then a 12TS, that was a nippy motor.
  Old mate of mine used to sell Simcas including the Rancho. It certainly looked the part, but suffered from tin worm in a big way, probably why there are so few of them left on the road.
 Had an Agri Rover years ago, series 2/3 bought second hand from David Brown tarctors field test department at Meltham, not sure, but I think my cousin traded it in for a RRC, both long gone now though.
 Any one remember the Woods & Picket Range rovers from the early 70s?
It took Land Rover ten years to catch up with the spec.

The 505s are still widely used in West Africa.  In Guinea they're used as taxis;  they must be built like tanks, because the roads there are pretty severe for a Land Rover, let alone a car.

Certainly do!, with all their odd grille arrangements (quad square headlamps, etc...), Wolfrace alloys, etc...


There was also;
Schuler Presses & their Ferguson Formula 4-wheel-drive systems, Chrysler sourced automatic gearboxes & yank V8s'

Schuler is now associated with Overfinch, I believe?
