Insensitive Banks!
« on: October 30, 2007, 21:26:05 »
One of the sewing groups that my mother regularly attends, unfortunately loss their treasurer a few weeks ago. They wrote a letter to the bank to inform them that due to the death of the current treasurer, a new one had been appointed and that the bank details needed to be changed.

The bank wrote back a letter stating that the changes could not be completed without the signature of the previous treasurer!!!!!

You can imagine how this made her friends feel!!! Who writes these letters?

Best bet is to send the letter to the local paper.  Or, write a letter back saying "exactly how do you expect the previous treasurer, who is dead and buried, to sign the letter".  I hate banks sometimes.

They will normally take a death certificate. In this case given the issues with ID theft they cant just hand things over.

IIRC they cant argue with a death certificate. The letter you got would have been computer generated.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.
