FRONT SHOCKS HITTING AXLE

I HAVE FITTED A 2" LIFT KIT WITH PROCOMP ES9000 SHOCKS, THE BOTTOM OF THE THREADED PART WHERE THE NUT SECURES TO RUBBER MOUNT SEEMS TO OVER EXTEND AND BE IN CONTACT WITH THE AXLE, IS THIS NORMAL, SHOULD I TRY AND SPACE THEM UP A BIT OR TRIM A LITTLE OF THE BOTTOM OR LEAVE THEM WHICH WOULD SEEM TO DEFEAT THE OBJECT OF HAVING RUBBER MOUNTING BUSHES, ANY IDEAS?

One of the problems with procomps dampers is that the ends are not specifically designed for land rovers, being universal they are not an ideal fit. You can end up over tightening the bushes as they have no stops, this is not good for the damper/bushes/damping and moves the end on the damper nearer the axle.

Don't trim the end as that has the flats on to hold the damper whilst you tighten the nut. Some people use washers to space them or just unto the nut a little so that the bushes are less compressed.

Thanks, ill see if i can release a bit of pressure without them being too loose, otherwise make some spacers of sort.

Fitting a set recently, I just did them up until they almost touched -the bushes seemed fine.
1980 SIII Lightweight 2.25 Petrol - completely standard.
1991 Range Rover Vogue SE 3.9 V8 - now on LPG (sorted!), 2" lift, mud tyres, and more to come...
