Heated mirrors and heated Rear window
« on: November 01, 2007, 13:12:53 »
Ok, changed ignition switch some time ago. During all the pulling i was doing to disconnect one of the looms/plug, i must have 'yanked' a wire somewhere that has shorted out my heated mirrors/rear window demister circuit. my 25A fuse will blow straight away now. had a few good hours under the steering wheel a while ago trying to trace the wiring. sad thing is, my haynes book of lies doesnt quite tally up with the colour coding of my rear demister switch circuit (no surprises there then). anyone got a good wiring circuit diagram and most importantly, a good indication of where the loom may earth out. i have lost both circuits but can here the (a) relay click when pressing the switch even with the 25A fuse gone.

You'll still hear the relay as that's the low current side of things.  Might help you trace the wiring if you find the relay though.

Check the rear door and the harness to the mirrors.

Its possible the work you did was a red herring. Check for chafed wiring whereever the wiring crosses metal, check the wiring in the hinges of the doors too. I've seen these break and short.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.
