Just noticed Evilgoat's signature,

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Tell me something I don't know! Having had a visit from Special Branch for daring to comment on their (and 5's) driving standards around the local area when returning to their not very well hidden base of operations on an industrial estate...

Someone would think we might not be very good at this stuff?

Quality thread.
I concur with most of the thinking here, glad to understand that I am not alone in my thoughts.

We do not live in a democracy.  We live in a democratic dictatorship.  Once every 4or 5 years get get to choose who the next dictator will be.

Next time you visit Segensworth North just keep an eye out for the 'Police no parking' cones they use to keep the shared access road clear of proles so they can park! Strange antenna arrays visible from the M27 are also a givaway....not very good is an understatement!

In actual fact probably more along the lines of Zaphod in the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy who was galactic president, who job it was to divert the public attention away from the the people who are really running the galaxy.

The leader we vote for is the one the media best persuades us is right. Which begs the question who is really running the country

THE MEDIA
Whether Rupert Murdock or who ever else
