Decided to try the fors over the back to me last night in the torrential rain, must have been 4/5 foot easilly

Got through all right, lots of steam and had to wait for it to clear the windows BUT:

I got a shedload (2") of water in through the center of the dash which has drwned the stereo and soaked all the mats. ANyone have any ideas where this would have come in. From the steam I'd say it was through the heater. Any way to stop this?

Also lst my number plate.

Went back down 15 mins later in the zook and dragged out a Pug 206 (filled with water and ECU wouldnt allow it to try and start) and X5 (came up with a spanner on the dash and refused to try to start) and a Cherokee (hydrolocked :( )

Cerry is sat where I towed it to last night this evening so guessing its dead. Left the other two to wait for the RAC, specially as I told the X5 not to try.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

I'm presuming the water went over the bonnet and up to the windscreen

It then went in through the vent on the bonnet straight into the heater, then it goes wherever you have the vents set, it may have a split hose, or one missing on the tubes that feed down the centre console to the rear seats, right past the radio!

As for stopping it one way would be to seal off the air intake under the vent holes in the bonnet, you can shut the vent to recycle air from within, but the water will still be backed up behind the flap

I have had this happen to me twice now. all I did was drive around on heaters on full blast on hot to dry everything out. My radio turned off when I selected radio present 2 and 5 and also cd mode. After a while it worked again. just keep it on hot!

I think it probonly 2was the heater intakes on the bonnet. I hit it a wee bit too fast as I wasnt expecting it to be as deep as it was. You learn something new every day.

Radio is back to life and behaving normally.

Living just over the hill from it I wandered back over, I just knew someone was going to drown something in it. The Zook just kind of floats across, front wheels on the ground, back ones floating :)

...bow wave anyone?

theres a far simpler way to avoid the damage/shame... watch some other muppet try it out first... if the dont make it... make an educated guess on how well you will do..!

I was the only one that made it through.

Found a Pug stuck there on my way home. He'd had a service and they'd left the dizzy held on by one screw. Took it off and there was about an inch of water in there. Cleaned it off, showed him how to start a car with a manual choke properly and all good.
