Hardknott and Wrynose Pass Then Lindisfarne Any advice
« on: November 20, 2007, 11:23:24 »
Hi all; I have decided to take a trip back to Gods Country this weekend, Edinburgh to be precise. Haven't been out since that great trip to Bala with the West Mids Crew some months ago. I'll be taking the 90 on this mainly tarmac trip.

[Friday] I was hoping to complete these two passes on my route. Anyone done them recently. I read on some of the web sites that it can be perilous in places.

[Saturday]Into Auld Reekie to see the folks.

[Sunday] I want to cross the causeway to Holy Island (lindisfarne) whilst en route back south. Any hints or tips on this venue would help too, you can't beat local knowledge in situations like these.

Mods. I intend to post a link to this in the MC express section if that is OK.

Hardknott pass can be a bit narrow but not to bad, its more of a clutch burner if your traveling up it.
I killed a clutch on a mondao up there many moons ago

Hardknott should be ok...be interesting if it is icy though
If going down make sure lowbox works & let the engine do the work or you'll cook the brakes
Have fun  :D
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

Hardknott and Wrynose are only roads, provided you drive sensibly you'll have no problems - your granny could get over there. I last went over in the middle of the night on a road rally, awesome road but nothing to be concerned about

I did Hardknott back in August and the only problem I had was one idiot coming down towards me wouldn't give way   It is very tight in spots but quite nice to drive although I wouldn't like to do it if it were icy  :?
