flash player update
« on: November 22, 2007, 18:33:03 »
I have been trying to watch some videos on various sites and all I get is I need to update the flash player. The sites I go to used to be fine.

I have tried to download and install the latest flash player but it isnt working. To start with I had a bar come up saying I need to install the active X control. So I clicked yes, then a box came up saying doing I want to install, yes then I got another bar pop up saying that the site was risky and advise to leave asap. I am on the adobe flashplayer web site. How can that not be safe? Once this had popped up I got a moving image saying it had installed. It hasnt because as soon as I go back to that page again it says I need to install it.

So I had a fiddle with the security settings.   I then managed to get it to have a pretty bar flashing away in the middle of the screen where flash player is written. No box asking me if I want to install etc. Not much more happened after 15minutes :(

So I have tried to put setings back to how they were. I think I have managed 90% of it but now I cant get back to attempt no1 settings with installing active x controls etc.

anyone got any ideas?

Give up in the end, after endless hours downloading updates, editing registry setting, browsing Adobe support forums etc.
Use Firefox now to view YouTube, no probs at all, give IE6 a miss now.
