Engine year ?
« on: November 28, 2007, 13:28:27 »
I have a 1988 F Reg Defender 90 which has had a Tdi 300 engine fitted. Is there a web site anywhere that would tell me what year the engine is with the number being - 16L07479A.

Just wanting to know in case I ever have to buy any bits for it.

Guardian.

300tdi , dont really matter what year, there is only a couple off bolt on bitz that are different and that depends on if it was a discovery 300 fitment origionally, or a defender fitment origionally.
Im 99% sure of that anyhow.

OK Thanks Guardian, I know it came out of a Defender because the engine number starts 16L, if it was a Disco unit it would start 17L.

I was given the same information when I bought a brand-new 300TDi Defender engine 3-years ago. A as long the parts ordered are for a 300TDi Defender then they will fit as the engine remained the same throughout the production run (even the late ones like mine which were made under licence in Brazil). Ancillaries MAY differ in manufacturer but will still fit.
