I once saw a particularly annoying poster regarding "Diversity" which seemed to have failed to realise that sexism is sexism, even if it's a man being shown as stupid/ by a woman. Had the roles been reversed the poster would never have been allowed...

Hypocrisy really, really annoys me!

If I end up going on it, & end up with either of 2 of my friends of 'ethnic origination', we'll stir things up a bit :-$

Nurse 1 is 'Afro-Caribbean' & will be prompted to ask for white tea at break-time
Nurse 2 is Hindu & will be asking for black coffee

Just to amuse us, & to see if the tutor picks up on it all :wink:  :wink:

As previously mentioned to 'Lord Shagg-Pyle', there's a few of us who'd be sent to the naughty corner, or to join the remedial group

You could ask about the use of the terminology 'Man Hole Cover' or that well known word to discribe a water drainage channel, namely 'Dyke'. That might stir things up a bit.

Ah, but will notes be written on a chalk board, or a white board? See it's not PC to use the term black board, but white board is perfectly acceptable it seems.

Those are already on the 'hit-list'

If we can manage to 'steer' conversation around to our 'usual' Friday/Saturday, I wonder if my suggesting that it's part of the Anglo-Saxon culture to binge-drink & become aggresive at the 'drop of a hat' (or more likely, a spilt pint??) will find favour??

Perhaps we should be more tolerant of them simply expressing their culture, and be accepting of their behaviour???

'L S-P', you should run that thought by your seniors :lol:

Not allowed to use 'chalk boards' - 'chalky'  is insulting to black people.
Not allowed to use a 'flip-chart' - insulting to Philipinos so I was informed.

Anyone here from the Bradford area?  Bradford MC have just started with a large poster campaign called 'I am Bradford'.  The first poster (roadside billboard size) shows two ugly (imho) middle-aged lesbians and proclaims to the world that this is what Bradford is all about.  The second (that I have seen) shows a Sikh chap astride a horse - no hard hat, just a turban looking like the last of the Bengal Lancers!  Talk about sexual and racial stereotyping!

I maintain half of these things are made up by people who never even bother asking those they're trying to protect from offence whether they find it offensive in the first place...

Don't get me wrong. Racism needs to be fought. But nonsense like this doesn't do anything to help and is likely to make things worse as people get fed up with it.

Remember people... it's not "one-up-man-ship"... it's "one-up-person-ship"...

So to carry the logic to it's natural consequence...

Man = Person

therefor...

Chairman = Chairperson

But...

Woman = Woperson

Human = Huperson

Manual = Personual

Manoeuvre = Personoeuvre

Many = Persony

Commando = Compersondo (Who's gonna tell the hairy @sd Marine in the corner?!)

Need I go on...?!!!   :lol:

You think you have it bad...

May mate has just joined the Police and now all the training is being done in house and he has just started 6 Weeks of diversity training :shock:

He said its death by power point! What are they going to talk about for 6 weeks! :shock:

If you ask me there is more going on with this "Diversity thing" as it seems everyone is doing it now.

we had to go on one of these diversity training courses. i feel sorry for the poor girl trying to run the course, we were evil to her.
a few of us invented some new insults, from words she was almost guaranteed to use or we could steer her to use.
i cant remember all of em, but i know 'coke can' was one, and keyboard was another :D

Ooo..... I feel a conspiracy theory coming on  :D

As said before, discrimination has to be addressed, but the world has gone mad (sorry, clinically insane!).

We have a regular customer by the name of Mr Pain. Unfortunately, when describing something that is tedious to do, I tend to call it a 'pain'! I can feel so self concious, I actively try to think of a different word when speaking to him! Does that make me a painist?  :lol: Fortunately, he's a great bloke with a wicked sense of humour!

never mind - give it 10 years or so and All the race laws will be in our favour as we ( english - white) will be in the minority!!!!
few places Hubby delivers to in Brum are 99% Indian/pakistani/bangladeshi workforce - and you wouldnt believe what the 1% get called - but if any one mentions the 'P' (think celebrity big brother) word then all hell breaks loose.. :shock:
Local shop keeper is Indian - and moans that the "Bloody Pa*i's are getting all the shops!!" lol..
In my experience there is a very small minority within the minorities that kill it for everyone else (usually ones that have been born over here....)

Hi,

just to take this to its extreme  - perSON   - what is wrong with daughters!

also, my dad is Polish, came in after WWII - you should hear him complain about the immigrants (including the recent Polish ones)  - he has worked all his life in england, took english nationality, paid all his tax & stamp, but still has a strong Polish accent - but is so pro-england it makes a lot of english people look bad.

i have found i am turning actively non-pc - this often raises eyebrows but no-one has actually complained to me!

regards
