Where has the TV coverage gone for the rally.

It us3ed to be on for an hour every night to reflect on the days action.

And this year there is nothing at all, :(

Seems that the more interesting the motorsport is the less they show of it on TV.

We get a whole hour of the WRC on sunday on ITV4 http://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail.asp?id=11547356

BAJA GB got all of about 10 minutes, in Wales only, tacked onto the WRC coverage. Same status of event - FIA Championship. There again if there had been TV coverage, I might not have felt so compelled to go and spend a week playing on the stages

Actually, those of you that can get S4C do get daily Wales Rally highlights http://www.s4c.co.uk/e_index.shtml

Yep, myherin/Tarenig setup, plus a bit in the bowl at Sweet Lamb and off in the woods somewhere in Hafren. Collected a bit of paint off the bridge  :D

Then marshalling in M/T, post 33. Camped in the burnt out car quarry before the event so wasn't held up by the accident.

I saw that bridge going in and have photos - must get around to putting them online. We had a brief scare when someone locked us in on Radnor, let's just say gates can be lifted

Accident didn't cause me any hassle as I came in over the mountain road to the Arch - rather fun at that time in the morning!

I personally don't miss the TV coverage anymore, this even has died!! What I do miss enourmously is the Lombard/Network Q  RAC Rally of GREAT BRITAIN! That was a proper Rally.

I used to love going off with Dad on a freezing cold November Sunday morning for spectator Sunday, We've been into chatsworth when there hasd been 6" of snow and lined snow men up all morning while waiting for the cars. We've sneaked into make shift services in hotel car parks to get McRae and Burns autograph before they went into Donno park. Then come home and sat infront of the fire and watched the Top Gear Rally report, with Tony Mason. I used to then spend the next few days at school gettin rollockins for having 5 live on my personal stereo for updates before racing home to see the next Rally report.

I used to love that week of the year, sadly its all gone to pot now and Wales rally GB is just a waste of time,

Time to get off my soap box.

Ah yes, Rallio on S4C, it's fine if you don't mind not understanding anything that's said!

Even if the Baja GB had been covered in-depth on the telly, I'd still have gone, probably as it was only a 10 minute drive to the stage at The Arch though ;)

Yes, but that's not an option for me. No phone line, and no possibility of a phone line. In fact no mains services at all at the moment.

Sorry, there was a rally?

TBH I lost interest when it stopped being the RAC rally, held on stages around Britain that included somewhere north of Birmingham.  The organisers decided to keep it in the south and in Wales, what was the phrase, "to make it a level playing field" and that's what we got, a rally round a playing field.

Now it's only 3 days long.  What next? they'll hold it on an X-Box 360 to save the drivers having to get wet.

Bring back Killer Kielder, at night, bring back the Sunday spectator stages and loose the pace-notes.

I miss the old event.  A lot. Being able to walk into the stages for a small fee for parking, or if you didnt mind a longer walk in free.

The rally this year whilst being good is getting too expensive. We managed to walk into Halfway without any problems (about a 3 mile walk) but paying £22 a stage is too much.

We paid to go to the millenium stadium which was good, and also ended up paying to get into trawscoed, due to a lack of prior planning.

The level of 'security' was ridiculous TBH and it was a blatant money making exercise rather than a motorsport event which is really dissapointing.

Either going to marshall next year, drive into the stage carparks the night before and sleep in the stage or just not bother next year. Stick to the clubman events.

Just a quick note on the millenium stadium too. Nice venue, good display before hand (75 years of rallying cars plus russ swifts son doing some stunt driving- very contrived but quite amusing plus a tribute to colin mcrae and richard burns. Which for me was quite special) but who the hell was that IDIOT commentating......He just talked over everything! I went for cars and car noises, not for some idiot talking over them! I genuinely wanted to jump out of the stands and gag the bloke to shut him up!
