weekend away
« on: December 03, 2007, 19:21:15 »
had the weekend away at stonehenge wot a rip of £6 + to walk around the stones when i was a kid you could walk round for free and walk between them and climb on them now you can only walk round the outside
stayed in the holiday inn good rooms and nice staff bit pricey £135 per room but was ok up till sunday
except
went for lunch on sunday as they advertised sunday roast, get there after visiting Sailbury town centre at 2pm and they finish serving at 2.30pm so no prob except no roast so we settle for a cheese and bacon burger so sit waiting for it to be cooked and look into the kitchen and see the kitchen porter walking on the griddle edge with dirty trainers spaying degreaser onto the extractor hood and the chef nudged him out of the way to turn the burger over then put the spatular onto where the dirty foot prints were
needless to say we didn't eat there and we kicked up a stink about it
then when we checked out they charged us for breakfast that we didnt even have
dont think i would ever go back there again

I would suggest that you write to the Hotels' head office and tell them about it.  They are generally appreciative of constructive critisism.  I would also suggest to them that their chefs' practises and breaches of food hygiene rules also breach Health and Safety Rules.   [-X

Explain to them that you were charged for breakfast even though you didn't have it and that, if sunday roast dinner is advertised as being served until 2.30pm, surely roasts should have been available, not some scabby burger.   :-&

Tell them that you are usually very happy with Travel Lodges' standards and service, but that on this occasion you feel that they fell well below that mark.   [-(

I would hazard a guess that they will offer you a weekend in another hotel, or something similar.  And rightly so.

NO! Fur muff? Pah! I will avoid the obvious double entendre about fur muffs!
Tis my very nice and warm Irvin RAF flying jacket! It is my friend! Before you ask, Yes, I do have a white silk scarf to go with it. I'm saving up for a Supermarine Spitfire to go with it. So far I have £12.96. Only another £2,500,000 (approx) to go.

Mate, it was chuffing cold! I'd been stood there for three hours, with some wailing loony stuck between the two stones behind me and some chap stood next to me out of his box on Tramp Juice and Ganj. That bit was OK, but the loony was getting a bit tiresome.
Actually, I was in a really good mood. The atmosphere at the Henge was amazing and to be that close up to the Stones was breathtaking. Most people had the same expression as me.............except the pothead who was constanly smiling, which for him was nice.

There were some calculations on one of the biofuel threads regarding how many empty 1l veg oil bottles you'd need to convert a Land Rover into an amphibious vehicle...

Get your carbon foot print up, its cheaper to go abroad and you get better service, can recommend Krakow for a weekend.

We put up with bad service in the UK and high prices, i know overheads are greater but there is no excuse for bad service and poor quality food.
