Where is my engine number please?
« on: December 14, 2007, 09:42:10 »
I need to buy a new serpentine belt for my 1996 Disco V8, and the dealer tells me there are two sorts and needs my engine number to know which one I need.

Please can someone tell me where I would find it ~ thanks!

(..and please don't just say 'on the engine!')

The easiest and cleanest place to find it is in the log book (V5).

IIRC the engine number is stamped in the valley between the two banks  8)
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

Mine (3.5) is on the outer of the R/H bank (as you look under the bonnet) under the exhaust manifold, almost impossible to see in situ  :?
But Jims way sounds good to me
