I'm with freeagent ~ maxi-cosi every time.

This web site has some excellent information (if you ignore the plugs for RoARDA) - www.childcarseats.org.uk/index.htm

We had a Mammas and Pappas Travel system for our little lad. This meant you can use the car seat as a pram aswell untill they are big enough to sit up. Also you only have to carry the chassis to put it on. Not the whole pushchair.

It cost us £800 in Total, and we had to wait a few months, as it was made to order in Landy colours.

The best part about it was, the car seat bast stays strapped into the car. And the seat drops, and locks in. Then you just put the strap round the head part. Built like a tank too.

These are the best in my opinion, and we have kept it incase the inevitable happends. :)

Congratulations by the way. Wayne. :)

We went with M&P too, only went in to buy a baby bath whilst mum and Amy were still in hospital and walked out with a travel system thingy. Primmo Viggio, Sport Surefix buugy and a Surefix base.

Having the base in the car makes things really easy, walk up and clip the seat in, just one 'lever' to release it. However the seat can be belted into a car 'normally' if you need to but you need to have long belts for these modern baby seats some are just too short so check hatever you buy will go in your truck/car.

Likewise the seat clipping into the buggy makes life easy too, especially if little one falls asleep in the buggy can just carry the seat to nursery or clip into the car etc

We're still using the buggy, which is great offroad, 3 large wheels means its stable and good on the rough stuff, an essential feature for us. Without the seat it goes up to much older (can't remember how old) but we've also got a cheapy £20 fold up mothercare one for nipping down the shops etc which doesn't take so much room up in the boot.

Can't find it except as part of the full systems but there used to be a carry cot too for that system, we found its predecessor the Navetta on ebay really cheap BNIB and that clips in to make a pram or straps into the car for traveling at night etc, drove Leeds to Holyhead for the ferry using it, and then slept her in it whilst in Ireland, too big now though and she can climb out of it (just turned 1yr)

Didn't bother with the foot muff or the changing bag and other "lifestyle accesories".

Just to make you sick though, reason I got it when I did was it was on sale only £199 for the buggy, seat and base, normally £350.

we've had no problems fitting the maxi-cosi seat in the back, or front of my 300Tdi disco, either on its own or using the easy-fix base plate.

I bought a Maxi-Cosi Tobi seat today (as she is just about big enough for the next size seat) and see no problems with fitting it into the disco..

The Maxi-Cosi infant seat also fitted on our Quinny Buzz pram, which was pretty handy..

I got a bebecar one with the pram when he was a little lad (rearward facing), we now have a Britax one in the wifes car and I have bought a Ferrari one for my 2 motors (£79.99 in Mothercare - well cool ), problem I have with the Disco is the back belts are too short for all 3 seats, you have to pull the stalk bit up as hard as you can whilst having your knee on the seat ramming it into the foam and the other hand pushing the buckle like hell trying to get them to meet, very frustrating and hard work
