its a wicked bit of kit, only had a go at boxing, killed 3 muppets and danced around like a loony, only to wake up the next day in agony with my back and shoulders.

there are only a few games which can be played online against each other...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wii_Wi-Fi_Connection_games

battalion wars 2 which is coming out next year looks ace, as does fifa 08 but dont expect ace graphics!

ive got about 7 games at the moment, and have just ordered the wii zapper in anticipation for games such as medal of honor etc which are FPS games and need to point and shoot (red steel is similar but im still getting battered on it!)

When you say Pathetic. I assume your comparing it to the Xbox 360 or the PS3. What games have you seen on it. I have some of the other games like sonic and Call of Duty. The graphics are much better on those.

But remember that Nintendo have the edge when it comes to gaming. The Wii has always been under £200. The xbox and PS3 were bothe over £400, but due to poor sales, have come down dramatically.

The Wii has been sold out for two Crimbos in a row.

For fun i would allways choose the Wii. And yes i have all 3.

this is the same comment i get from colleagues in work but all of them own a ps3 or 360 and compare it which is pointless.

you can have the same argument when comparing the 360 and ps3 but the wii isnt after the same kind of market.

when investing in something like this which, to be honest, was more for the personal benefit rather than the family's then i had to justify the purchase to the missus, to which the ps3 and 360 were dismissed as the kids couldnt play on them (they are 3 and 2) however the eldest is good on golf and boxing and the youngest just throws punches everywhere but they both have a good time.

the argument over the 3 consoles has been dragged on for months now and there is no clear winner if indeed there needs to be one.  i for one am chuffed to bits with the wii mainly because of the interaction, plus the fact you can get games like the lego star wars and you can get a light sabre attachment to your remote and play like a jedi, or a steering wheel attachment for the upcoming mario kart and drive it like you would in an arcade.

The reason Nintendo's are so hard to get hold of, is because Nintendo made it that way. It is called supply and demand. It would not stand up against the other 2 major consoles if it was available and didn't have that "ooh it's sold out it must be good" air about it.

The same with the DS. Throughout the year, easy to get hold of, but on the run up to Christmas - supply not fulfilled. ON PURPOSE.

Do you really think that more people are buying more Wii's than PS3's and Xbox360's? Nope. In our office about 15 of us have Xbox 360's, 10 have PS3's and 1 has a wii, and he sold it for double what he paid just before christmas.

The console is not the same as the other 2, and the simplistic graphics are there to make sure the gameplay doesn't suffer from the alternative controller. The PS3 has a 6 axis controller, which can be used to control certain games, but it's hard to use in full frame realistic gaming.

So, at the end of the day the Wii is not in competition with the Xbox or the PS, mainly because it is nothing like them. The main reason they are so expensive/hard to get hold of is because Nintendo make it that way.

Remember the year Sony released the PS2 slimline? European shortage at Christmas, the excuse they gave was that the ship got stuck on the way to Europe. The real reason was to build up the hype for the console. It worked and the PS2 slimline was the "must have" console for that christmas.

It's not just that - the Wii is aimed at a different market (casual gamers as opposed to those who want a realistic simulator like Gran Turismo). Nintendo do seem to have underestimated demand though - they could easily have sold twice as many had they been able to make them. There's creating demand and there's not profiting from that demand, in this case it's definitely the latter. By next Christmas there'll be another new wondertoy competing, against which the Wii will be older and less in demand.

We bought ourselves a Wii for crimbo.  Fantastic fun for the family, which is why we got it.

If it was for me I would've got a 360 (I may treat myself later in the year), but it wasn't.  It was so that we could all play silly games together.  Have enjoyed sports, mario olympics, mario party and ravin rabbids.  Yeah the graphics aren't leading edge, but it's much more fun than the other consoles.

if you think the games are ace wait till you buy the older games on Virtual Console!

you can get the games from
nes
snes
n64
megadrive
turbografx16
neo geo (i think)
and you can also put your gamecube discs in the wii and it will work (the wii comes with 4 gamecube controller ports on it, pluis slots for memory cards)

The wii is great for the whole family and every age can take part.
I guess it`s  up to each person what they prefer tho.
