I see no problem with having this sort of exclusion of dirtier vehicles :?

I work to the east of London and from my office I can see the layer of filth that sits a few hundred feet above the ground. Any additional control can only help cities such as London :D

Apart from the fact they are planning to exclude diesel land rovers by 2010 or some such date.

yea but look at it the other way the green zone in cludes lots of horse land so how many new horseboxes do you see in london and do you think sainburys will buy 200 new wagons just to please ken and what about all the small haulage firms in london that run old wagons who can't aford to upgrade  And the list goes on. And if he wants to do it right He will have to buy every council new trucks, fire engines, And what about the army will they have to buy new trucks just for london. Think is a big nail in londons coffin as the haulage firms i know have said that they will not do london as of next year as they can't afford to replace trucks. So the people of london are going to loose out again

I did look this one up when it first hove into view - IIRC my Disco is fine as it's classified as a car, but if it was a 90 or 110 hard top with the same engine it wouldn't be allowed in as they're classed as vans!

Where do you see that information?

I've just used the on-line LEZ check and it comes back that my Discovery is not subject to LEZ controls.

1. I live in London and see only a few horseboxes running about so we need not worry. My area has one of the largest areas of Metropolitan Green Belt and these vehicles are not as common as you may think!
2. Sainsbury, Tesco and the like will comply like everyone else if they want to keep trading.
3. All haulage firms have enough time to comply.
4. Council trucks and fire engines are no different to any other vehicle in their most basic of construction so they will comply given time but they may well need an exemption for a while as they are public service vehicles.
5. The Army.... how often do we get the Army inside the M25.... its extremely rare so we need not worry about them, but should they be needed they will probably be exempt.

What about epsom horse racing are they going to pay for each day they are at the races.

No as they wont fork out for new trucks i know as tesco have already said this.

3. All haulage firms have enough time to comply.
yea but can't afford to by new trucks

Why if he is going to stop a type of engine he needs to do it for all.

err Who looks after the queen there is a few big camps in london as well as the raf camp's as well. All have landrover's 4 tonners hcr has horseboxes as well, plus transporters for the squ of scimter tanks the hcr use.

Not trying to argue with you. Just nice to have a good debate

Well there are a good number of armed forces units within the M25 ring so they're not that uncommon. Being Crown vehicles I would expect them to be granted some sort of concession at least until the EU decides on what the emissions levels for military vehicles are going to be.

I wonder if these LEZ charges relate to vehicles within the zone that don't normally go on the public highway (e.g. airport fire tenders)?

Happy New Year all  ;D
