Happy neww year ... NOT!
« on: January 01, 2008, 20:06:39 »
Went for a potter on my way home from a job, intention to test out the new sat nave and media setup. Stopped at the local chave spot, then decided enough was enough and I'd head home. Just accelerationg up the hill and <CLANK!> oil, alternator lights on, no power.

Managed to coast to another carpark and had the bonnet up, bye bye cambelt.

Just had the rocker cover off to verify it so I guess its time to do damage assesment and order new bits.

Just had to rant

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Well after some desperately needed violence its finally in bits. Huge thanks to Chris9119 for the tool, cracked the bolt off dead easy with that, sounded like a Gunshot  :)

Bolts in the pully yeilded to heat and an imperial socket :)

Belt seems to have delaminated, looks new too, as do all the tensioners etc. Found a few minor worry points that may mean I'll do an engine rebuild down the line (Endfloat on crank feels a bit too much and the oil seal is weaping) So will order new bits tomorrow and hopefully have a living Disco by Sun :) YAY!
