Disco owner - looking at building a series

Hello one and all. I'm a discovery fan at heart and I have a 200 tdi disco that I'm slowly speccing upto be a capable greenlaner.

My question is: is it possible to put a series body onto a discovery chassis? I'm a capable welder and fabricator but I just wanted to see if anyone elso had made one?

I'll make it clear that I'm not looking at buying a series with the intention of scrapping it for the bodywork, I'll be looking for either a mot failure or just a body.

I'm just interested in the conversion.

yep they will fit on a disco chassais all the fitting mods is done  on a 4x4 is born dvd  for 15 quid

Write a 4x4 is born will not help you at all because that is a 100 inch :roll:. You have to shorten the chassis for one about 18 inch if i'm write you are better off contacting or pm solihull-mick on here he's a good friend
  His series hybrid is under modified section on here. He's just rebuild it  since he made it in 1998 :P :P :P

it can be done, a discovery chassis is almost the same as a rangerover one.
the biggest problem is the wheel base.
 i beleive a disco is 100", whereas a series is either 88" or 109"
you have to mod either the chassis to fit the body, or the body to fit the chassis
it depends what you want to end up with

either way you really should get it SVAd when you are done

Your both right re the mod

The Disco is 100 inch, so if you start with a 109 tub you can chop it down to a 100 inch, or chop the chassis by 18 inches (or maybe 19) and then use it for a hybrid 90/88.

I musty admit though, that my advice is taken from "armchair experience" via TV and Google


Id watch a 4x4 is born as its just great watching, and it was on discovery turbo all day today. (but iv seen it 3 times now so resisted the temptation)

on a 4x4 is born he cuts down and re welds the tub from a 110 so it fits on the rangerover chassis.

I think a look at my hybrid would be of use to you, its a shrotened rangy chassis with a S3 lightweight body on top, which is basically a standard 88" unit anyway

If you a capable welder this would not be too dificult, as has already been said, disco/rangy chassis are almost identical
