90 200tdi Clutch
«

Hi Folks
The gear selection on my 90 was a little ropey for a couple of days but nothing desperate. Now its gone with the clutch pedal on the floor. There was no leaks on the drive (or otherwise) prior to this and there is no obvious leaks from the Master cyclinder or any fluid in the footwell.
Am I right in guessing that it could be the slave cylinder??
If so is this easily fixed, really dont want to be under the landy today as it is bloody freezing and snowing (of course it never breaks down on a sunny July day, why would it!!!)
Any help/advice to save me time under there would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It could be the slave cylinder although they normaly show signs of leakage when they go.
I had a similar thing a few months ago - pedal straight down to the floor and no clutch.
Turned out to be the clutch arm has worn a hole in itself (where it pivots in the bell housing)
This is a common problem and is fixed by replacing the arm.
The problem is, to get to the arm you need to split the bellhousing and engine and this either means removing the engine or moving the gearbox back.
I ended up changing the entire clutch seeing as I was going to have access to it.
I hope yours in just the slave cylinder as all in all it was quite a job. However with help from a few mates we managed to do it all in a full day

as above sounds like the clutch fork, gearbox out job if it is. parts only about £8 but defo stick a new clutch in while its out for another £60. done mine a few weeks ago along with changing the gear box and transfer box.
not a hard job all nutts and bolts, but very time consuming..

Hi Folks
Thanks for taking the time to reply even if it was with bad news :( Does anybody know which make of clutch should be avoided. I am sure a few folk have had stuff to say about certain makes in the past.
Cheers

Not sure that a foot to floor pedal is associated with a punched thru fork, where as pedal locked solid is. There is a heavy duty fork with more meat or over plated to help prevent the punch through happening again, I believe Les Henson sells a version of this.

I used the supplied fork, but gave it loads of weld over the top to thicken the plate, then grinded it smooth

Thanks to everybody who posted, I have managed to have a look at the landie (in between snow, rain and a force 10 gale) Everything seems to be okay although there is a little paint missing from the top of the pedal so my guess its the master cyclinder begining to go, but losing fliud over a long period of time.
All topped up and seems to be okay just now. As long as it lasts until the weather gets better.
Cheers folks especially saffy for the emailed pics.
