Efficency in your disco boot

Having moved from a 110 to a disco I'm having trouble fitting half the stuff I need in my boot (tools, recovery gear etc) and leaving any room for anything else. nevermind space to actually open up the fold-down seats!

Yesterday bought a couple of sets of flat-packed shelves and then happen to stop by the off-road centre (all4wheels) to get a steering guard and some diff gaurds and had to move the furniture onto the back seat !!!

What tips do you guys have for storage efficency????

buy a commercial version :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :P ;) ;) ;) i suppose most people use a roof rack

If you have a hilift-type jack, consider buying one of the spare wheel mountings for it from Wizardbilt - that will free up a fair bit of space. I store all my recovery kit/tools in a 4ft ammunition box which still allows the rear seets to be folded down.

Nice box-system JB but would cause some problems with the 6th and 7th seats (which are the reasons I bought the Disco and not a RR).

At the moment I just have the jacks that came with it - there is one under the bonnet and one under the backseat. In time I'd like my high-lift to be attached to the back of the roofrack.

I think I need to rationalise my tool box which is far too big (but that's a different post perhaps). I also have screwdriver and socket sets in their original boxes and i'm sure these could be stored more compactly.

As stated above, get the Commercial ;) Loads of space in the boot! Not too comfy when used as a 7-seater though!

The cubbyholes under the front seats are good for screwdriver/socket sets, and you can get one of those spanner packs in the door pockets...

yeah, i only use that rack/shelf when where touring about, suitcases go ontop etc and jerry cans tools xmas pressies :P go underneath

any other time the boots clear so i can use the small seats  ;)

I'm so used to the warmth and comfort already (I'm nearly 40 now!!) - so are the wife and kids. Besides, I know full well what these things can do when they are fully tricked up.

i had a ride in a 110 today, lets just say id gave me a headache after 5 minutes

I just use ammo boxes. Can measure them for you if you like but 3 fit absolutely perfectly next to each other between the wheel arches and the length is spot on for the door to close. I then cut a piece of ply board out to fit and go over the boxes so when stuff is stacked on the boxes I can pull the boxes out like a drawer and the tat ontop stays in place. When I use the rear seats I take 1 box out and fold the seats down to ontop of the boxes and put the hard board on the floor and boxes ontop. My Police lady friend says that is perfectly legal to do as well.  :)

Now I only have 1 rear seat I just op the middle box ontop of the ammo box by the space where the other seat was.

It might not solve all of your problems, but this was my solution for my Disco I.



You can read more about it here. As you can see, it was specifically designed to still allow the rear seats to be used. 

Of course, I've swapped my Disco for a 110 now, so it's less of an issue :D
