Black Plastic Wheel Arches on Disco 2
« on: January 06, 2008, 22:53:24 »
Hi Guys

I have a Disco 2, and the black plastic wheel arches have become discoloured, and I would like to clean/paint them.

Anyone any advice how to get them off without damaging the body work (I believe they are just stuck on) and more importantly what to use to stick them back on afterwards.

I plan to clean them with cellulose thinners and if that doesn't work, paint them with a plastic paint. Is this sensible, or what alternatives would you recommend.

Many thanks

Ed

DONT use cellulose thinners they will go white, if you go to a good bodyshop factor you can buy a 'dressing' solution or even spray cans of rubberised textured paint,

Have you tried simply rubbing trim blackener into them?  It worked a treat on mine, and it's far less hassle.  You can get it from Halfords or any motor factors.

Mite sound weird but use black boot polish it works like a charm rob it on then just buff it up if you paint them the chances of the paint chiping flaking are hi. Jeff
