front axle
« on: January 08, 2008, 16:21:30 »
Hello!!
i have a broken cv joint, front ns, i believe that my drive shafts are 22 spline, does any one know if the new cv will be a standard fitting for either a 22 or 26 spline shaft or are they specific to the splines on the shaft?? By the way, its a 98 vitara.
Thanks
Chris :|

One other thing, if the axle breaks again i will be replacing it with something else....  any sudgestions   ??

Cheers Simon,
The axle has now been dropped by 25mm but that was after it broke, still not too keen on the angles of the drive shafts tho, they look like they are at quite an extreme angle.
As for the inner or outer cv, i havnt got a clue ( im no grease monkey ) drive shaft comes out of the axle and on the end is what looks like a ball shape with grooves, the broken bit is inside the hub... not sure if you will know what im on about.
Any idea what sort of price i could pick up a sammie axle for?
Cheers
Chris

id say once u have fitted a new drive shaft you shud be ok with the drop you have now got
cv's are funny things prob best bit to go imho costs more to buy another diff than a drive shaft usually lots of vits being broke on fleabagjust need to spline count urs to insure right fitment
