hi everybody im mark iv just turned 20 on the 3rd of january new on this forum i became a member on here for advice and well because i love driving landrovers over muddy fields. about a year ago i owned a defender 90 2.5tdi and it had some BIG! tyres. i used it as all round car really but i got it mainly for shootin and just throwing muddy wet dogs in the back and i had to get rid of it and bought myself a diesel VW Golf cause of the journey to work and back.
 
now im considering another 4x4 as i miss the fun you can have in them and i carnt go shooting in a small car. im considering a shogun or a pajero as my budget to buy a car is about 1000 to 1500 it might have to be diesel id love one of the big 3.0L but for insurance purposes dont think it would be practical any advice would be helpfull thanks.

 Hi Mark.
 Welcome to the club.
 For 1000 to 1500, you could probably pick up a decent Discovery 200 or early 300.  A 200 should do over 30mpg, be reasonably comfortable and have the room for a wet woofer or two in the back.  Parts are a lot cheaper than for a Mitsi as well.
