« on: January 09, 2008, 22:04:54 »
Hi all, was out on salisbury plain today, and noticed a number of red/yellow flags flying, i fully understand what the red ones are for but what abour the red/yellow ones ??   As it happens we did not venture antwhere near them, as i guessed pretty much any colour flag flying means we should not be there

Nope, that'd be red with a white horizontal stripe from top left to bottom right :P Also known as the 'A' flag.

the red and yellow flag is basically the same as red so should be treated the same, simple rule flag up=pop smoke and run away    so stay clear

Nope...this is the divers 'A' flag (International Code of Signals 'Alpha' Flag(Diver Down or conducting underwater operations))

This...is the Divers Down Flag

In short the difference of the two are...the 'A' Flag is to be displayed by vessels conducting diving operations which restrict there ability to maneuver.  The Divers down flag is to be displayed by the divers & requires the divers to be within a certain distance of the flag (a good example of the use of this flag is when used in conjunction with Surface Marker Buoys).

The crap you carry in your head
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!
