wiring in a winch
« on: January 10, 2008, 20:44:36 »
early next week i will be putting a new winch on my air con defender td5

can anybody please tell me the best way to route the two wires from the landt grill to the battery box please
fail to prepare.. prepare to fail!

If it dont fit...force it. If ya cant force it...get a bigger hammer. If it breaks...it probably needed replacing anyway.

run it along the top of the chassis into a new hole in the battery box.

Id secure it to the chassis with cable ties.

Make sure you run the +ve and -ve to the battery rather than relying on an earth off the front bumper :)

fit a battery isolator in the main live cable to the winch aswel
so the winch can be isolated in a emergency ( belive me, its saved my 8274 on 3 occasions  [-o< )

make sure its a decent one that has a constant load of over 500 amps
my isolators for the winches are both rathed to 2500amps constant load to keep it nice and cool  :afro:
