Stiff steering
« on: January 15, 2008, 19:32:54 »
When i go thru a deep puddle, the steering is momentarily stiff and then back to normal, is this to do with the belt/steering pump slipping with the water?

Maybe the belts slipping, maybe too loose? But I'm no mechanic...

It's quite common, a new belt might help but TBH tightening the belt up with a bottle jack is far more effective.

new belt and tightening might help but if you're splashing about enough to get the belts wet, I'd have thought slippage is a pretty certain side effect whether new belts or not
