Defender Body Cappings
« on: January 16, 2008, 11:57:05 »
My 90 (1988) has really bad rust on the rear tub cappings, they are 3 piece welded.  But ive been told that the later one piece jobbers fit.....but ive also been told they dont.  What can I fit (preferably one piece). I have a bulkhead inside and want them to go from the rear door, along the side, to the front door!!

Cheers
Part numbers would be helpful!

Buy early 90 cappings that have been galvanized.
I replaced them on my 110 a few months ago.
Sorry don't know the part number.
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

A mate of mine owns/runs a small fabrication firm in Kingsbridge.  He sends allot of stuff to South West Galvanisers (I think its called that).  He get charged by the tonne so my stuff goes when he has stuff to go.  Usually every 1-2 weeks.  The rear light cappings in the above photo are the originals.  I stripped them & got them galvanized through him  :afro:
If you want me to give them to him, strip them to bare metal & get in contact.   :afro:

ON MY OLD 1988 90, I REPLACED THEM WITH THE GALV 1 PCE ONES FROM LANDROVER, NO PROBLEMS, STRAIGHT SWAP FROM MEMORY.
