BBC are doing some taster clips at the moment looks good and the fact that Gene Hunt's driving a red Audi Quattro means it's compulsory to watch  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPG39o124R4

It remains to be seen if the whole thing still works, I can't see Gene Hunt beating up Keely Hawes' character though :?

So why not an XR3 then?  only natural for a Ford man to still be buying them years later.

I'm surprised it wasn't a Rover SD1 - big V8, rear wheel drive, British - would suit Hunt perfectly!

I'd have thought the Audi purists would have picked this one up before now.

It's not that the Audi Quattro wasn't available in the Uk. In 1981 which is when the new series is set Audi didn't do a right hand drive model.
It was only available in LHD.

I still see loads of them, but I'm into classic Fords.  Put it this way, they are easier to pick up then a MkIII 'Tina.  Incidentaly I think the original Hunt-mobile set the benchmark for continuety errors, being a 1974 GXL with a 1973 GT grille and badges.  I'm told the front bumper was on upside down in some scenes too.
