Is there a market for a working set of roll-away/concertina seating to sit 200 people?

Basically, my Headteacher has given me "a little job" - sell our assembly seats - we are having a big extension so no longer needed.

They sit 200+ people. Bench seats - fabric covered in maroon. They pull out to be tiered seats or push in to save space. It would need a decent flat back lorry as they must weigh a couple of tonnes. Disassemby and removal would have to be done by the buyer. Can supply photos/sizes if required.

Is there a market? Anybody point me in the direction of anybody that might be interested?

I've trawled Ebay and there is absolutely nothing to compare it to.

It is similar to this demountable grandstand but with bench seats, much more sturdy and seating to hold 200.

Forgot to say - it goes from storage mode to seating mode in 10 minutes with 2 blokes. Full working order, used every day for assembly then packed away for lunch.

Other Schools?
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

we've got them at work - been in three years in a new build and they've never worked right - always seem to crab to one side and never lock in place!

Hello,

I agree that ebay is a good bet but as its a "strange one" put a reserve or starting bid on.

You could try selling them to a theatatre/rigging/stage mgt co co or put an ad in a luvvies trade press.

The thing that will go against you is that fact that as people who do public events are so paranoid (pressured) about H&S, id wonder if anyone would have the balls to buy something second hand when they cant get all the guaratees etc etc re fitting and safety of installation.

My wife works at a charity/youth circus so ill ask here if she has any ideas (or wants them)

Good luck!

I've never known a school to buy 2nd hand. Sad but true.

I know\what you mean, H&S paranoia is rife in schools.

Thanks for the honest answer - looking more like scrap all the time.
