Uni Clubs
« on: January 25, 2008, 13:30:51 »
Reading and Harper Adams are planning to hold an inter uni 4x4 challenge in the summer term. It would be good to have as many unis as possible to attend and represent themselves. Harper have offered the use of their site and it will be held over a weekend.

So who is at uni and has a club or just fancies coming along to represent their uni.

Is this a competitive motorsport event?

If so don't forget that you will need a MSA permit*. Are either of the organising clubs members of the MSA as I couldn't find them listed on http://www.msauk.org

(*well strictly speaking you could organise without an MSA permit, but there would be no protection for competitors against prosecution for dangerous driving and it would probably make getting insurance cover difficult)

I'm kind of still a bit at Aberystwyth - had my Viva yesterday and I've got a whole year to finish off. I think that counts.

Whos actually organising it other than providing the site?
I'm away on placement at the moment, but haven't heard anything of this on the harper email.

What sort of event is this? The harper has quite a verity of terrain on there grounds, once a year soil hall gets turned into a mud(ish ) run for freshers, but I would say it lacks size for a big event. Will have to see what they come up with.

If its harper students organising it then probably not, some of the 4x4 exzecutive certainly have (in their own words) a "give it death" attitude 8-[

My Uni (Sheffield) doesn't have any sort of 4x4 or motorsport club, pity but I guess there isn't much interest?  Can't use the S1 in comps though anyway as it has no seatbelts and I wouldn't want to use the van as I'm doing it up for the summer, don't want to break anything else on it, theres enough jobs to do.
