Woohoo! Light at the end of the tunnel!
« on: January 27, 2008, 20:11:40 »
A good day for a change! Been trying to find the money to pay for the gearbox replacement on the Disco, and it needed to be found by tomorrow. Not been having much (read: any) luck, until I called round to see my boss this afternoon, and left with a signed, blank cheque. So tomorrow I'll be getting the motor back at last!

I've got the parts, so if he's got time when I collect it tomorrow I might see if he'll do it there and then. Failing that I'll sort it myself!

Finally, the Beast is back! Wonderful feeling to have my own car back after over a month without it. Drives lovely with it's new gearbox and clutch. General consensus is that the "recon" box that was put in when I bought it was actually a con box! Transfer box obviously was a reconditioned unit (apparently put in about 6 months before I purchased the car) and still had a nice clean casing, clean oil, no problems. Gearbox casing was a mess, and when he drained the oil hardly any came out!

And as a nice bonus the faffing about involved in removing and replacing the transmission has resulted in my difflock now working! Just need to take the console out and adjust the high-low linkage as it's jumping out of low range at the moment.

Excellent - you should be able to cope with that hillclimb now!

what do you say, offer, do, to get a blank cheque? I find it an effort to get a pay slip out of my boss!!!!
