front brake caliper questions
« on: January 28, 2008, 11:06:22 »
hello

does anyone know if the calipers off an LDV convoy van are the same as a disco 1 ??

also does anyone know what size and thread the bleed nipples are on them?

which is the correct way to bleed all three nipples on the caliper

and last but not least how would you get the rest of a bleed nipple out, if you had sheared it off

thanks

nick

You have 3 nipples on your calliper? odd, I thought Discos had single circuit callipers unlike the RRC.

Anyhow, the top nipple is one circuit, the other two are the inner and outer of the other circuit.  Bleed the top one fiorst, then the inner one, then the outer one.

Don't know if they are the same as LDV, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

No idea what the thread is but probably metric, the same as the brake pipe.

If you've sheared the nipple off I'd suggest a new calliper, try Paddock motors http://www.paddockspares.com/ for cheapness as you risk damaging/weakening the calliper trying to get the old one out.

  He might be right, I can't say.  I know on the RRC with ABS you do the hydrostatic circuit first, but it's late and I havn't the manual to hand.
