Removing Stickers
« on: January 31, 2008, 15:44:45 »
How can we do this?
I've heard you can use a hair dryer but would be a bit embarrassing with the general public going buy...

Used isoprpyl alcohol and white spirit with t-cut to finish
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Blowtorch ;)

But seriously ... hair dryer to get it warm and it comes off. Then either WD40 or wot Evilgoat said to take off the residual glue.

Yep, hairdryer or VERY careful use of the hot air gun. You do look daft drying your car..... almost as daft as painting it with a roller

easier than a hairdyer, Boiling water from a kettle, pour it on, by the time u put down the kettle, the glue will be softened and the residual water (if there is any)  will be cool enough to touch

may i also recommend baby wipes (the cheaper the better )for removing any residual adhesive. bizarre but true. Also ace for cleaning fly splat!

Wait til a hot summers day.

I used a hair dryer to remove the standard decals from the 110 and also the HUGE Maddie McCann graphics after our Spain / France tour.

Since when did the neighbours opinions count. Ours all think I'm mad and keep guns in the Cellar.. thing is I don't have a cellar. Are they calling me mad????!?? eh! eh!

Heat gun or hair drier like the rest of you say worked for me then a bit of petrol on a clean cloth to get the gum off.Works a treat.

Gaffa tape can be used to remove excess sticky too - no guarantees that it won't cause bubbled paintwork to come off too mind! It does work a treat for removing the remains of price labels from CD boxes though.

Best way I've found is to simply peel them off and then use Isopropyl to get rid of anything that's left.  Takes a bit of elbow grease, but is easier than WD40, white spirit, baby wipes etc . . .
