How and were would you start with bobtailing a 200 Tdi?

any one done it?

any companies that do it for a fair price?

I'm stripping the interior now and dont want to make it a pick up, still need the rear seats!

If you aredoing a body lift too then bear this in mind when cutting the chassis off, you can lift the rear crossmember up t the new body height and save another inch of clearence, plus the bumper will fit back on neatly.

either way you'll be having an SVA. If you want to keep your reg number then you'd better get it on a cherished transfer NOW.

iv already looked in to the SVA so yepp will be saving the reg number,

i have a 2" suspension lift on it at the moment and was looking at the Gwyn Lewis challenge suspension kit,

do you need any head lamp mods if you have a body lift?

I think with the headlamps you'll find the saem as with a suspension lift, they get worse the further from the floor they are. I know on some of those Renault 4x4 trucks that they move the headlamps to the bumper, I don't know if it's a legal requirement or just because they are rubbish but on main beam you'll want them reaosnably high up or you'll see lots of shadows on the road surface.

that is ok, i have it on my disco truck. jut bare in mind if you alredy have +2 springs for the full size disco the spring rates will be wrong for a bob, you may not achive the articulation you seek from it. i only say this because nither david at llama 4x4 or gwyn warned me about this.....

Im going to give the suspesion to my mate as he has had no luck recently, besides selling it on wouldnt be worth it

i was looking at the Gwyn challenge kit its about Â£1200 alot for suspension i think,

Any one know of any others?

noooooooooo! that kit is full of propshafts and arms which in all honesty you dont need! go to maxtraction and get 4 of there progressive springs with some long dampers(i have the rough country ones and no commplaints) thats really all you need! but thats me, i figured that as i got no anti roll bars and big tyres Castor correction and fancy propshafts wouldn't cure rubbish handling and vibration on the road! money better spent else where in my opinion.
as for my truck, i have cut it off 10mm behind the rear wheelarches but that in all honesty was a bit much :lol: i dont know where the law stands on tyres sticking out on the rear further than the bumper will.....
ill dig a photo out if you haven't already seen my thread.

you will probably need defender truck springs on the rear of your bob(maby hd). i dont actually know or pretend to know the science of spring rates but im pretty sure that you will, i need the defender ones and even though you back end will be heaver than mine i wouldn't have thought you would want the disco springs

Like on replacing the 2 front tyres when the outside edge of them scrubs away, due to the negative castor on your front axle ;)

mine is terrible compaired......its undergoing a major change. im re welding the back of the roof on and rear door pannels (like the cheviot one and maarten's one) leaving the origional lights off though and leaving the frame work on the back of mine bare. should look good just need to find some argoshield as im too pickey to use pub gas :lol:
