Will 200 tdi off road bits fit 300tdi

Hello All

I'm considering a couple of 300tdi Disco's that I've been offered.

Does anyone know if the off road bits on my 200 will fit a 300 ?

I know the snorkel won't.
But what about;

• Winch Bumper
  ProComp 2" lift - springs and shocks
  QT front and rear diff guards
  Rebel steering guard
  Extended Goodridge hoses
  Light bar
  
  Also the axles ? As I've totally rebuilt them
  Any any other bits

Diff guards,steering guard,and suspension will,dont know about rest :)

It should all fit, even the snorkel if you swap the airbox to match.

What about the mechanicals ?
My 200 has a recon box which is very good and although the engine has 197000 on it, it still pulls like a train. I would keep them to transpant if need be if they would fit.
What about the axles ? Steering box ? Propshafts ? Draglinks ? Servo \ master cylinder ? Radiator ? Intercooler ? and anything else you can think of...........

Why dont you just chuck the 300 engine at your 200? Do a front end convertion while your at it?

The back end on my 200 requires attention, I've done the sills and inner wings last year. If i got it through the mot this year it would be another body part needing welding next year, I'm getting a bit bored of the fabrication and welding. Time is at a premium at the moment.

I'd keep the 200, a better engine IMHO, plus when the weldings done it'll all be good. You may have to do it all again to the 300 ?

I think everything should fit but the 200Tdi axles don't have the mounting points for the anti-roll bars so you'll have to remove those from the 300 .. or weld on some brackets  :lol:

i`m a bit puzzled by your argument that you dont have time to sort the 200, but your talking about swapping over axles, gearboxes etc... i would have thought it would be far easier to spend a weekend with the welder and have a motor you know is 100%

thus leaving more time for the important things in life...

I would only be swapping things over if they went wrong on the 300, I just wanted to know if it was worth keeping the bits.
Getting burnt under the 200 again and again is getting bit tiresome, as is finding decent metal to weld to. As I said before, I could sort it for this year and it'll be something else next.
There comes a time when you have to say enough is enough. I will be selecting a VERY solid 300  [-o<

A lot of the bits will fit, or can be made to fit, but the 300 had a lot of "better" parts on it. the dashboard is redesigned and has better heater and materials, the headlights we all know about and the axles are 24 spline not 10, so you'd need to keep the whole axle.

thge off-road stuff will transfer, springs and shocks, steering guard, sill and tank guards etc and the engine/box will be interchangeable but not the same, the T-box was carried over.

Not sure about the props, the back one will have the rubber doughnut on a 300 (you may want to fit the 200 straight away) I thought all RRC/Disco had the sam eprops, 'till I lent one to Tim.........

Steering box is worth keeping, but the drop arm is different so you may have to keep the drag link in order to use it. etc etc.

So whilst you can keep lots of the bits as spares it may prove more feasble in the long run to get a solid 300 and sell your 200 on or break it and sell the bits, just buy what you need when you need it.

If by the 'back end' you mean the rear body cross member, they are easy enough to repair/replace

So the plan is now -

Weld up the 200 and get it through the MOT and keep it for mudplugging

AND

Buy the the tidy 300 I've got my eye on and use it as my road car

Fair comment, the 300 will stay in good nick for longer if you look after it, and I reckon prices have fallen as far as they can really.  When congestion charging hits engines of 3litres and up, you will be spared, if road tax ever goes up the same way you will again be spared, because to discriminate against the TDi gordon's squanderbugs will hit every transit in the country, and most white van drivers probably voted for him ;)

That will help the value of good 300TDis stay at a reasonable level IMHO
