Slight befuddlement
« on: February 16, 2008, 22:28:07 »
OK so does anyone know if the HORN and HAZARD LIGHTS on a 200Tdi share any common earths/feed??
Had a problem with them since I brought the Disco and neither of them work...Indicators stop flashing when the hazard swith is pressed..but dont light up, horn - well it just does naff all....fuses are OK..and I have 2 'spare' relay holders under the dash - tried fitting relays into them - and still nowt!!!
Had a look under the column and shroud, and its like an explosion in a spaghetti farm in there - and one of previous owners must have had shares in Scotchlock, the bloomin things are everywhere
Any help (with pics if poss) would be appreciated..Thanks

on one of my many disco's i had a similar fault and my rangie does it after the hazards have been on the horn dont opperate and the indicators play up

it was the indicator stalk and hazard switch (replaced it and it fixed it) this might not be the fault but it sounds similar to mine

It sounds like the 'fusable links' are nacked. There are four of the blighters. These little beasties are found wrapped up in black hessian type type stuff on the main loom running on the right inner wing panel in the engine. Landrover placed them very consideratly in the place where all the run off water collects, hence they corrode.
I chopped mine out and replaced them with 30amp fuses.

That'll be on the right as you sit in the Animal. Have no pics unfortunately, but if you follow the cable back from the battery towards the bulkhead, the links will be there. daft place to put them, namely where they are going to get covered in crap and corrode.
