OK not the best title heading.. but i need to know if anyone has any remedies for the horrid smell that is left in cars by previous owners that didnt know what an ashtray or rubbish bin was

every time you open the door you get a horrible 'waft' which seems to linger..really need to rip the interior our and steam the carpets - but time and weather aint exacty on my side.

My dad owned my car before I had it and he smoked too. Nasty smells.

I bought a glade car smelly thing that sits on the air vents on the dash and just kept hoovering the car and cleaning the dash with a damp cloth and when it was a dry day I would put the heaters on warm and drive along with the windows down.

It did get rid of the smell after a few weeks. Although I never have been able to clean the interior light lense. That is stained for life now I think. even the dishwasher didnt shift the grime.

A good interior valter will work wonders with your truck..

Ive used febreeze i think that's what its called does wonders after a while..

I used the pink oxy spot spray and a stiff brush on every part of the interior then fabreez .

you can also use a bit of bicarb dissolved in water then sprayed onto the carpets this clears most smells works well in fridges as well.

Blimey thats carpet cleaner and washing up liquid in one week whats this club comming too :lol: :lol: :lol:

dirty dirty horrible people!

several magic trees usually do the trick... but obviously its best to get rid of the cause first..... i pity you!

waft a bit of perfume (or aftershave) on the headlining too, most smells sink downwards (GENTS - if using perfume make SURE its the same stuff SWMBO uses, or you will get into a LOT of trouble when you and the vehicle smell of a differant woman!) [-X

get some liquid persil in a bucket with warm water and scrub the carpets and seats and headlining and then suck it up with a wet and dry vac works brilliant

ewwwwww thats disgusting, steam cleaner? possible hire one of them rug doctor thingys? and take the seats etc out and give everywhere a good going over

A good one for the dash and other harder surfaces is white vinegar diluted in water ... mind you it'll smell like a chip shop for a few days afterwards :lol: :lol:

Well he must have a guilty conscience - we have just had 5 steels - and 1 RR alloy for FREE off him - as well as handbrake shoes, slave cylinder rebuild kit - and hes bringing a 'garage full' of spares.......still smells tho'!!!!

Take it to one of them car valet places thats run by a hundred dodgy looking youths let them clean it up kinda like revenge :twisted:

well the wekend I am off 'oop north' to collect a RR interior - so while the seats are out I will attack the carpet with loadsa soapy water/fabreeze/aftershave/bicarb

May have to takle the roof off afterwards :shock:

sounds daft but Kando soapy stuff for washing kids hands is fab espcecially after a puker and very inoffensive.Babywipes leave a good shine
, mind you I htink the first clear of the interior with a rake is a tad excessive.
Failing that go speak to your lovely local valet place and give her a good clean up (mine demands danger money cos of the kids but tis "CLEAN" afterwards
