at least I can make a start on making the disco a bit more 'upmarket'


Only down side is they are 135 miles away in Morcombe :S:S:S

think I may have found myself a bit of my exhaust I need and at the moment it is at £10 with no bids. Local exhaust place wants £91+vat. Just hope it fits mine (designed for a honda accord, same engine!) andnobody else bids on it. £30 inc postage.

Ebay is the way forward. One of the few internet hype sites that hasnt fizzled into nowt.

yeah, there's some right overpriced tat on there.  Seen a galvanized series bumper that's an engineering second as some of the holes are inthe wrong place, it's up to £36 +p&p.  You can get a non second one new from Paddocks for £25.  Lunacy

Ebay is pretty damn good but you need to do your research - never buy on a whim.

As has been said it's dead easy to pay way over the odds.

Also the postage still winds me up; some people really do try and fleece the postage.

The ones that annoy me on the postage front are those that say "contact seller to determine postage" hmm, and will it be the same amount regardless of the current bid?  :lol: It's not difficult to quote UK postage and say "overseas contact me before bidding". I don't really care about postage as I look at the overall price, but when they don't bother to quote it I obviously can't do that.

There are bargains for those who know what they're buying, especially if you find a lot with one rough part and some good bits. Others seem to be put off by the rough bit rather than thinking "3 good widgets for 99p and I might be able to fix the fourth".

Got a brand new rad for the 90 at £61 including delivery last week. They are £125 from Paddocks so I'm happy  :D

Oh, and a small sheet metal folder, new, for £16.78 plus postage  :D All the previous ones had gone for £45 or £50!

If you are buying something that someone is continually listing, just bid what you want to pay. If you don't get it keep bidding each time it is listed... eventually you will get one when nobody else is bidding. That's how I got the folder at a good price.

Also, look for listings that are ending at a silly time in the small hours. They tend not to get bid up at the last moment.

there were 2 seats of cloth RR seats listed - both finished about the same time - these I bid on starting at £10 - the other set were a BIN of £75 ..no brainer really... did want leather - but for £10 I aint gona complain...;)

I just got a bargain tonight as well.

For my rover 620 I got quoted £300+vat to fit a complete new exhaust and could have all gone pear shaped with the manifold.

I have just bought the complete exhaust (front,middle,rear sections) and a new cat inc postage £144  :dance: as I have bought the complete exhaust off the same guy he is going to include free of charge all the bolts I need and gaskets.  :dance:

all I have to do is cut the old and new front pipes and join them together so the manifold bolts dont get touched.

I love ebay.

i get really hacked off ,some people say my postage is dear, imagine the weight of a winch bumper to  lug about, about 6 quids worth of bubblewrap, 3 / 4 quids worth of card , 2 quids worth of parcel tape (bearin mind i get this stuff cheap as we buy megga quantity), half an hour to wrap, half hour to take to carriers, petrol to get there, and the carriers 15 quid, and i charge gueess how much............. £15, and still some moan.

my exhaust was £12.50 for 1 item £15 for 2-5 and £17.50 for more than 5. I was happy with £15 postage.

They are reasonably local to me but I couldnt get there and back for £15 of fuel.

too right i sold my RS Cosworth MASSIVE intercooler for £112 it cost me £40 when i got it off a mate a few months before bargin!!

Yep I got a brand HD tubular bumper £54 took me 6 auctions to get but I got there in the end.
