any body tell me will a disco 2 rear axle fit a disco 1 300tdi if so with what alterations as i am leed to beleive these have built in lockers and as my axle is starting to show its age i was thinking of swapping for the newer axle ??????? :-k :-k

news to me :-. :-.
with abit of alteration,faffing and bracket making theres no reason why you cant make one fit :-.
just fit a normal disco axle for what its worth

I think that if Disco 2 axles had lockers, there would be a huge demand for them, as there's not, i can only assume that your information is incorrect, sorry to be the bearer of bad news..!!

gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

i must admit i was told that they had limited slip diffs but i never payed any attention.
but you would want both axles as you dont wasnt odd wheel fitments.
just the diff might go in you never know.

Got a D2 and there is no lockers, LSD on either fromt or rear.
Its all down to the little black box and the TC, ABS that control the wheels.
I have busted two front and one rear dif so far and once gone your stuck as no diff lock. Now been change to an early T-box with diff lock.
I would stick with standard axles

Thats not true guys. A locking rear differential was offered as an option on the last of the face lifted series 2.
However before anyone considers playing with a series 2 disco i strongly suggest you phone your local parts supplier and ask for a price on wheel bearings as from my experience they go rarely, yet still as per the series 1 disco intervals.
Forget £9 for a set of Timkens, how does £200 per corner sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And dont let people people tell you that they can be converted to 300tdi style as they are different to the defender ones around which this rumour started.
Far better with a 300tdi in my opinion! (or 200 for that matter)

many thank to you all I think ill just stick with the original fittment then as the old girl isn't worth that much at a later date I might fit a arb or similar don't know yet but thanks chaps

I can heartilly recomend the ARB, but as a cheaper option fit a Truetrac ATB type diff.
