arches & 35's fitted without lift with pics

today was the day i got to fit the bits ive been itching to fit instead of burning myself with welding and grinding which was a nice change :dance:
but so far ive only fitted the rear as ive been doing it after work so i havnt had much time and it took 3 hours to fit one side :shock: but i was being extra carefull as i didnt want to balls it up although the other side took me just under an hour which is the amount of time it took me to remove both rear mud gaurd brackets!!

as for the arches im not 100% happy with the finish and they were a pain in the arse as they dont come with a template and it is difficult to hold in the right place to draw around!
im wondering if i am going to have to move them towards the front as the gap is very uneven around the wheel as you can see in the pics but i will stick my 2" lift on tommorrow and see what it looks like

the arches are not to far back. the wheel goes back when it goes up.
sorry can't find pic of mine on the flat but it's the same as yours.

If they line up with the doors as yours do I assume they must be in the right place!

As for 35" tyres welcome to a world of fun and games and an empty wallet!!

finally got the front ones on :dance:
the passenger side went on great and i am very happy with the way it sits but then i moved on the the drivers side at this point i pulled the arch out of the box to find it was miss shaped :(
but i fitted it anyway as i dont have the time to send it back for a replacment it dont look to bad but never the less i didnt pay £195 for a twisted bit of plastic and to top it off i am two screws and caps short!

at this point they were on and i was fairly happy as i wanted to get home so i jump in to move the truck out the workshop reversed up turned the wheel quarter of a turn and realised the side steps were in the way :oops:
two bolts came undone five snaped off which was fine but then it had to happen the one bolt that wants to hold on for dear life but nothing the grinder couldnt sort out but why is it theres always one :-.

mobi was there a bit of inner arch visible on yours like in the third pic above and how much lift do you have and have you had any other issues i havent come across yet just so i can be prepared if there is?

gaurdian your were right im happy with the look and even more happy that people at work think it looks good :D

get the pics on with the front mate, and dont spoil a good job, you paid good money ask them to send you a replacement, they were new, so have it right.
discos just look the danglies with them arches and 35's, make me keep looking at them in the autotrader again.

i didnt take a side on pic but you can just see the the arch bulges up towards the swayline on the top left which makes it sit away from the body in places and on the under side of the arch it bulges down towards the tyre by over half inch in places but you can only see it if your eye level with the wheel

as for spraying grass the bloke i work with drove his lorry in the same spot but all the diff lock in the world wouldnt get him out so it was a thack it with the digger bucket job :lol:

i'm only running 33" with a 2" lift.
i don't have the inner arch showing but i did have the guard plate for the filler pipe showing but the tyre has put that in order  :lol:
how have you done the inner rear arch i was caching there and the top of the arch.

Did they rub on your front bumper? I have a tight bend by my house with a steep camber and it would just catch. I cross axled it deliberately to see how much I needed to trim and bent the winch bumper.

Where did you get arches and wheels from and what was damage if you don't mind.
Been searching but struggling.

i have done mine the same as yours i will have a mess about with it when im completely finished and see what catches where and see what i can do to sort it.
the filler/mudgaurd brackets on mine had to be removed as they protruded a fair bit so ive got to make a couple of brackets to fix the bottom of the rear wings

yes i cut the bumper to start with so it sort of matched the shape of the arches and it rubed with about quarter of a turn so tonight i fitted my +2 springs and it still rubs so time to get the saw out again as for spare i was going to cut and weld the wheel holder but even thats been got by tin worm!! how did you mount yours?

on the roof :shock: i can only just reach the roof bars allthough its a good excuse for a ladder :-k

the wheels and tyres were £550 from gaurdian for replied to my wanted thread and even delivered them in person (although he did drive in to some deep norfolk mud then engaged difflock which moved the earths crust which caused last nights earthquake)  and the arches came from paddocks for £195 all in.
if your strugling to find what your after im sure theres some helpfull people here that can point you in the right direction :)

no complications as such just annoying rusted bolts that needed cutting off mainy the mud gaurd bracket ones.
i will have a look on my camera and see if ive got any prob wont be untill tommorow evening...

Hi

I already had a Devon 4x4 raised spare wheel carrier so it went straight on.

As for the money side of things, since I've put them on I've bought +2 spacers to give a 4" lift, not the best way I know a body lift would be better but time and money are in short supply, because of the 4" lift I now have wide angle props, the extended bump stops now need to be extended again with spacer blocks, brake lines were already +6 so they are ok. All in all another expensive journey!

35" MT's shouldn't be a major issue
If something like Simex are fitted then it'll become a factor, only because they offer so much grip that the standard fitted shafts tend to be comprimised

Even so, having seen a bobtail on standard axles and 35x10.50 silverstones giving a KERR hell and only stopping when it was stuck in the ruts it had just dug, its amazing just what a standard axle can withstand.

Another harper student running 35" simexs was managing quite well with a standard rear axle until a little too much abuse with a ARB and then all it had done was strip the splines in the drive flange.

TYou might find that now it's fitted and screwed down that if you leave in in the sun to get warm it will regain some of it's shape.  If not I agree that you should ask for a replacement, it douns like it was damaged in transit though.

ive had a space heater on the last couple of nights blowing towards the front drivers side so i would of thought that there would be enough heat there if heat would of made it reform its shape.

ive sent paddocks an email but ive had no responce so i will have to ring them but looking at the receipt it says faulty items are looked at so they can decide who at fault then sent to the manufacturer for new item to be sent out but it also says its a lenthy process and suggest buying a replacment!

as for axles i was starting to wonder then i read that the abs axles are somehow stronger i may be wrong but if what you guys say is true im happy to take my chances with the standard ones

The one thing I will point out is the people I know that use simex or equiverlat on standard axles, at least one of the group tended to carry spare shafts. Not that I saw one changed untill the ARB had its way.
