Honestly, after a couple of weeks (during which time you'll be watching the TV in smale squares about 22" across) you'll wonder how you ever coped without it, and wish you'd bought a bigger one.

When I went in to order mine I picked a 40" 1080P Samsung.  The wife said I couldn't have it, it was too small

I have a 26 inch LG, only got it a week ago and its just fine, anything bigger would have looked wrong in our room.

Its up to you.

get it mounted professionally unless you are mint with the drill and mounting the wall mount perfectly level

last thing you want is a wonky tv watching it at a slant!
