« on: February 03, 2005, 22:54:15 »
Just been watching the super-crawl prog on sky.

Whats with the guy at the top of the rock trying to pull the truck up with a rope???   Is he superman.....or super stupid?   :?

did read somewhere that with the rope held taught, it adds and extra 25% of climb to the vehicle, meaning that they could climb vertical slope without testing the roll cage too much.   just don't hold on too tight :)

It does one of 2 things.... partly it can help with vehicle stability, but it also gives the driver a point of reference...

When all you can see is sky, with the rope attached up on the cage the driver can use it as a guide to know which way to point ;-)

Yup it does work and sometimes the guy on the end of the rope can be the best bit to watch.
Especially if he doesn't let go early enough as they roll.
