can anybody tell me what is the maximum angles landrover recomend that an early 90 can go to befor rolling. as my wife is convinced she is going to die every time we go over a small tuft of grass or pebble. thanks richard

Ive always been led to believe its 38degrees. Thats what the angle is at all the land rover dealers test route on site.

YOU CAN DEFINATELY GO OVER A LUMP IN THE ROAD, OR SOME PEBLES. :D
YOU WILL SOon find out where that angle is should you try hard enough

Just explain that the butt clenching she does over every bump is great for toning of the derrier and would take her 30 minutes in the gym to get the equivalent! ;) ;) ;)

Having had (as will have many on here) my various landy's at severe angles I would say that you will bottle out long before the landy goes over!!

Its not so much the angle either! you can drive a nice level angle and be not concerned, but the same angle with undulations and perhaps a bit of speed will take you over. I've rolled my trialer a few times and each time its not been the angle on its own, its been the lump in addition that has overbalanced me!

And sliding sideways before coming to an abrupt halt.

I had the same problem, so I bought a land meter. Seeing it going into the red on every roundabout hasn't helped the cause though :-.

i dont take notice of what angle
it goes into itse side to graze as and when it see's fit :oops:
but when you cant stay on your seat is a good pointer you aint going much further before it topples :lol:

When you can feel yourself slipping out of the seat you are resonaly close, also you feel the topside getting very 'light'.

Was that a V8???? Alergic to water????? :lol: :lol: :lol:

Thought it was 45 degree but taken down to 38 for safety, steering uphill transfers weight too fast and will take you over too :shock: :shock:

No it was a 2.25 Diesel! It was a trials section at Woolfox Quarry in an RTV trial. To miss the gate I had to put the drivers side wheels onto the bank and the ruts on the passenger side just pushed me further up the bank than I wanted to go. I think it was at 44.3 degrees when it went over :lol: :lol:

Just remembered i have this pic when i was trying to roll my 90, the back wheel is just off the floor and i couldnt push it over, i ended up making a little ramp out of two breeze blocks and driving up it pretty fast to get it to go.

even then it went over extremly slowly.

i would never try to roll my little girl over i have had her about 11 months and i have spent 10 month fixing her she brakes an axle if i fart on her seats i wouldnt dear roll her

I will confess to putting my 90 (V8 trialer) on its side on purpose!! It was easier to weld the chassis that way!!

I was doing it to see how far it took before it actualy went, i wanted to see how much it would take so that i knew in future when I was getting near the limit, i had the digger there with the strap to catch it so i did'nt mangle the bodywork.

Personaly i feel every offroad driver should know when their motor is going to go over its a useful thing to know, just like knowing how long it takes you to stop from 30mph or how wide your car is.

True that we should all know our limits, not sure I fancy trying that withou the JCB though.

Yes i wouldn't really want to try it without the digger, i have plonked it on its side since and i knew exactly what was happening, do my cage design the bodywork was fine but i still wouldnt try it purposefuly.

Will, its worth remembering that once you have some shocks on, the amount of lean you get before you roll will reduce....

This is as far as I could safely take my 110 before I felt it was dangerous, the rear anti-roll bar was still on at the time though, and any further than this saw the back right wheel come off the ground.

My sister's looked worse than that :-o

got to over 40 degrees on a 1 in 4 or worse hill before it went. Still scares me to think.
