Setting up my adjustable panhard rods.

Hi there

I've got adjustable panhard rods on my Jimny and I was just wanting to pick peoples brains on how to make sure they are set up correctly because I've recently changed the front springs the rods might be restricting things now.

Am I correct in the belief that if I disconnect one end of the rod and let the jeep settle itself on flat ground then adjust the rod and reattach it as the jeep sits that should be the best setup?

Any help on this matter appreciated.

I measured from chassis to shock mounts on the axle both sides and adjusted the rod till the axle was in the centre (same measurement on both sides)
Don't know if this is the best way but worked for me.

I just had to do my back rod after spacers showed up that it was out by about 10mm so I tried measuring from the tyre to the chassis and then refitted the rod and checked by eye. I estimated it was still out by 5mm so we turned it in another 5mm.

You need help with adjusting your pannard rod because the body needs pushing back in so that the holes line up for the bolt. One of you pushes and the other pushes the bolt through once it is lined up.

Whilst I was doing the adjustment I turned my pannard rod around to take advantage of the offsets on the bush housings and also put the adjusting nut at the other side (left) of the car to give me a bit more clearance as the nuts were fouling my right shocker.

Basically the adjustment is to keep your axle positioned in the centre of your car, you adjust the panhard until it is in this position, then give it a run round the block and check again. if you get bigger springs it'll need adjusting again, or if your current ones start to sag.
