I think it is more likely to happen if there is a fixed date/day of the month before arrangements start......even then I think people drop out rather quickly.
There was a Dorset meetup at one time, but after 3 dates and only about 4 of us there it died a death.
Dorset isn't the best place for a meetup; ideally it needs to be at a 'laning friendly' pub....Bustard or Charlton Cat for instance......or a car park somewhere near a lane......like the one on Pepper Box hill for instance.
Just a few thoughts :D

Sorry, 15th no good for me ... will already be on The Plain with North Somerset LRC.
Will keep my eyes open for you all :D
Charlton Cat is a good meeting point. If someone who's going has memory map I can send you some not-very-taxing lanes to try.

I can't make the 15th.....I'll be on my honeymoon :D
Chalton Cat is definately good place to start (which is why I suggested it :) )
There is a lane that does up hill right opposite the cat which will put you on the parimeter track around the north of the Imber ranges.......just a thought :)

Sounds good to me about a meeting, But on another note "we have the most lanes here and no meet so why not " yes we do have the most lanes around are glorious County Wiltshire, and they are slowly getting over run and abused so soon we will start to loose them i think :'( :'( :'( :'(
