Jaguar XF
« on: March 29, 2008, 11:44:45 »
I saw a new Jaguar XF on Tuesday in Rothwell (between Wakefield & Leeds)

What a striking car it is, if a little bit like the posher brother of the (current model) Mondeo

Managed to have a bit of a browse at it, looks quite good inside too, but the Ford influence shows on the dash, bt even more so in profile.

I can't really see it as a Jaguar.  From the front it looks like something nameless and American.  The grille has a hint of Skoda.  The side profile can't decide whether to be BMW, Skoda, Lexus or Volvo.  Obviously all cars are going to be derivative to an extent, but surely deriving the look from Jag's own cars would have been better than morphing together something from all of their competitors?

The grille has a hint of Skoda.

Though not quite as obvious as the front-view of the Bentley GT & the Octavia/Superb (mindst you, both vehicles had the same designer)

Nope - it's definately not the same dash - the supplier that makes the XF dash only provides for jaguar - and the steering wheel is also a different supplier.
Pesonally i think the DB7 and new XK look nothing alike - but the DB9 and new XK do look alike - and all 4 cars were designed by the same chap - Ian Callum - an absolute genius!!

There is not one car on the road today that is more beautiful than either the Aston DB9 or the new Jag XK - ( in my opinion  )

Fantastic motors!!

I took some pics too (not uploaded yet), as I didn't think it was on sale yet, but it presumably is!

Having looked at the picture again, there's definately a hint of Octavia/Superb/Passat about the side-profile.
The (seemingly) sharply sloping rear from the B-pillar back, reminds me of the Tudor (the Superb based concept) but not to its full extent :-k
