Battery light staying on
« on: April 01, 2008, 21:13:13 »
Went to look at an SJ for my fiance today and after getting there i turned my RRC off and the battery light lit up.

When i turn theengine on it goes off but as soon as i turn it all off its back lit again.

i have dissconnected the battery so it wont go flat but are there usual things to check?

The rectifier pack in the alternator has packed up, it needs a new part/overhaul.

If the rest of the alternator is good a rectifier pack is quite cheap and easy to replace.
Well it is anyway but a bit pointless if the alternator bearings are liable to collapse next week.
