Metro wheel on a disco 1
« on: April 09, 2008, 18:59:30 »
Does anyone know if a rover metro steering wheel fits on a disco 1?

I`m fed up of the big wheel and I am looking for a cheap smaller wheel now

There is a Rover wheel that fits,  amte had one but I don't know where form ... It's brown and even the shape is right for the column so it looks like OEM.

Is the shaft on a 200 disco the same as a Range rover classic ??

If it is there are very few options ,old mgb 1970 ,sprite and lotus eclat are the same as the classic.

How do I know this ???

As I have said before I love the internet

Bob's was something like the 200 or 400 series wheel, just the right colour brown for a RRC interior too :-k

If you go to the Mountney site they sell boss kits .

The number for range rover classic and disco 1 is 015 so you can see what other cars use boss 015  ;)

And that will tell you what to get a wheel off...

Hi All don't want to hyjack just expand the chat ;)

I have just won a mountney steering boss on ebay question is what is the smallest steering wheel I should fit ,

Reason for asking is I am fitting bucket seats and this will push my knees together ,as I am 6' 3" it means with the standard wheel on I can't steer

The boss will bring the wheel up a little but I really need a smaller wheel but how small can I go without loosing leverage??

Well the 300 TDi Disco and Sof dash RRC had a smaller wheel anyway, so you should try something large car-ish.

be careful... i suspect she WILL notice!

as for size, the things to check are:

reach to stalks
visability of dashboard (warning lights, speedo etc)
and...leverage when its in deep muddy ruts - try parking against a thick kerb to test.... :)
